Cllr Kevin Cooney and I are meeting Dianne Lyons, chief executive of Leeds CAB early next week regarding concerns that they are attempting to close the local CAB office.
Otley Town Council have, over the past three years, since Labour took control, put in considerable extra resource over and above the core grant to provide specific advice for local people suffering from fuel poverty and from the LibDem/Tories’ draconian cuts in benefits to the most vulnerable in our community.
On Monday at the council meeting we heard an impassioned plea from many of the Otley CAB volunteers.
The thought of losing this well used local resource is of great concern – but so too are the funding streams which support these services.
This government has declared war on the most vulnerable in society AND the agencies that are there to pick up the pieces and support them!

Kevin and I will make the case strongly and forcefully for our local community.
