Get creative in a Warm Space

As part of Otley’s Warm Spaces scheme as the school Christmas holidays start, people of all ages are invited to join a lively Sticker Art session at Otley Labour Rooms opposite the Library next Tuesday morning (20 December) from 9.30am – 12.30pm

The session is run by Alex Eve, who runs popular Sticker Art sessions at festivals, event days and venues all over the country.

The beauty of sticker art is that it’s so flexible, you can use sticky paper of all sizes and colours to mould anything big or small that takes your imagination – hats, spaceships, animals, monsters – there are no rules, lots of colour and fun, but no paint, glue, or water to make a mess or spoil clothes

“The beauty of sticker art is that it’s so flexible, you can use sticky paper of all sizes and colours to mould anything big or small that takes your imagination – hats, spaceships, animals, monsters – there are no rules, lots of colour and fun, but no paint, glue, or water to make a mess or spoil clothes,” said Alex.

There will be a warm welcome at the Labour Rooms and FREE tea, coffee, drinks for children, biscuits and mince pies. “Parents are asked to stay with their children, but Sticker Art is something that appeals to all ages. Parents, grandparents, and anyone who wants to unleash their artistic talents is invited to come along and join in our Warm Creative Space,” said volunteer organiser Marilyn Philips.

Warm spaces in Otley

More than half a dozen welcoming spaces in Otley will open during November as part of the Otley ‘Warm Spaces’ scheme, which aims to provide warm welcoming places to spend time in every week, usually with free tea, coffee and biscuits, during the winter months when people will be struggling with fuel bills. So far involved in Warm Spaces are Beech Hill Church, Chippendale Centre, Otley Labour Party, Otley Library, Otley Methodist Church, Otley Town Council at The Core, and The Bridge Church. The scheme is supported by Otley 2030.

The first Warm Spaces will be opening next week. From Tuesday 1 November, Otley Labour Rooms will be offering a warm welcoming space where people can spend time every Tuesday morning. From 4 November, Otley Methodist Church will offer a warm welcome every Friday morning and Chippendale Centre (Otley Action for Older People) will be opening their doors every Friday afternoon. Otley Library will also be part of the scheme every weekday, starting on 1 November.

“Warm Spaces across Otley will be open to everyone, so please pop in and see what

they offer,” says John Eveleigh, chair of the Warm Spaces initiative. “We hope other organisations will join the scheme to offer more spaces as winter approaches.”
